The Salem-based Ty Curtis Band is a sound beyond their time! With passionate vocals and driving guitar, this young band is an old soul. They earned 2nd place in the prestigious 2009 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The Challenge started with more than 2,000 bands in nine countries and 36 states. One hundred bands earned the right to come to Memphis, ten made it to the Finals and The Ty Curtis Band was voted 2nd place by a panel of judges made up of industry professionals. Here is where the band met one of the panel members, producer David Z (Prince, Etta James, Jonny Lang). Z took a special interest in the band and produced/engineered their latest and most notable album "Cross That Line".

Aside from the soulful album recorded this year, the Ty Curtis Band has gotten much notoriety among the Blues genre. They were given: Cascade Blues Association Muddy Award for Regional Act, Cascade Blues Association Muddy Award for Harmonica (Hank Shreve) and Rainy Day Blues Society Rooster Award for Best New Act in 2009 and Best Contemporary Blues Act in 2010. James Skyy Dobro Walker of Blues Blast (Illinois) has a list of the Best of 2009: Where Ty Curtis's last album “Down on my Luck” was selected as #18 out of 25. And song “Cherry City Boogie” selected as #3 out of 50.

Described by a music critic as... "A multi-talented line-up, that is packing blues-lovers in and keeping them on their feet." This young band is all heart and is proving to be unstoppable. None of this is surprising to the NW blues fans that have been filling clubs, festivals and dance floors wherever the band performs. Playing a mix of blues, blues-rock, funk and swing the band keeps audience's attention with a multi-talented line-up. The band's performances feature passionate vocals and driving guitar from Ty Curtis, masterful harmonica and powerful vocals of Hank Shreve and three part harmonies with the added voice of bass player Milo Fultz. Milo's tasteful bass lines coupled with Davis "Super D" Brown on drums lock in the rhythm that ties everything together.

The Ty Curtis band is a regional sensation that is working their way up the national and international ladder. The band's music has received radio play from XM Radio to the Pacific Northwest to Germany to Argentina. And they have also appeared on the PDxposed TV show. They have been privileged to open for Chris Cain, Coco Montoya, The Doobie Brothers, Roy Rogers, Paul DeLay, Curtis Salgado, Walter Trout, Big Monti and Lloyd Jones. The band has performed at Montreal Jazz Festival, Joseph Bronze & Blues, Rogue Valley Blues Festival, Central Oregon Blues Festival, The Red, White & Blues Festival, The Oregon State Fair and many more to come including Redwood Run, Winthrop Blues Festival, and performing a 3rd year in a row at Portland's Water Front Blues Festival, and they will be taking the main stage this year!

“Finding an artist that is an originator has always been a rare thing. Ty Curtis Band is a bright new unique talent.” - David Z

Garage Band Blues

We are corn fed country boys, a small group of everyday guys that like to have a good time on stage and back in the woods. Most of us grew up in the Stayton area outside Salem, four of us graduating from Stayton High School. Brian, drummer, and Aaron, rythm guitar, played in a fairly well known rock band in high school. Brandon, lead guitar, jumped on board late in 2009 and brought with him amazing talent and a taste for different styles of music. Mike, bass guitar, and Nick, lead singer, initially came together in early 2009. They got this all started in Nick's garage, and put together what would soon become Garage Band Blues. We strongly believe that we are one of the most entertaining groups in the Willamette Valley, we play music for every age and every style no matter what your preference. Make sure you get to see Garage Band Blues in action.

Third Edition

Our group consists of two members from Queen of Peace church.... Dennis Wiegal on keyboard (Dennis has led music groups all his life, both in Chicago and here in Salem, and is a very talented keyboardist) and Bob Mitchel, our acoustic guitarist, also very talented. Roger Webster is our bass player and is always in demand to play in many different groups. Our drummer is Richard Loft (he's good). I do most of the lead vocal work although we have songs in the other members sing or we do harmonies. We play both instrumentals and songs with lyrics. I would say our basic style is jazz music and we also have music from the 50's, 60's, etc., some rock & roll. We can accommodate a range of music tastes and preferences. I think we have a very good sound.... and always have a lot of fun!
